wake up…its the first of the month!

okay, how did we get here? its OCTOBER? I feel like summer just started??

It’s officially fall, which I do enjoy. I love fall food and cooking, its cozy and comfort at its finest. however, if you’re in the NYC area, you know it’s been raining nonstop since the official start of fall. rude.

alright, lets get to it then!

state of the union: october

sadly, heirloom tomatoes are just about out. but! we’ve got pumpkin spice drinks, butternut squash, béchamel sauce, brown butter, toasted almonds, and more all IN! what else is out…the Drew Barrymore show…if you know, you know. Clemson football…unfortunately. sweating is out (finally!). oh yeah, and delta skymiles updates are soooooo out. Ed Bastian, you better sleep with one eye open.

life updates:

I am fully back into the swing of things with graduate school at NYU. I’m taking some really interesting classes like food writing, food and culture, and food systems. if you’re interested, here are some of the pieces we’ve been reading for my classes: A Real Hot Mess: How Grits Got Weaponized Against Cheating Men, The Birria Boom Is Complicated, but Simply Delicious, How Gullah Cuisine Has Transformed Charleston Dining.

My 10 mile race went surprisingly well, and I finished under 2 hours, which was my goal! this coming Sunday is my first ever half-marathon, and i’ve been a bit slack on my training because of all the rain, so RIP.

Alex and I went to Clemson for a football game (which Clemson lost), and then his family visited us in NYC. later this month, he and I are heading over to London to watch a Tottenham Hotspur game and to explore the city! if you have any must-do recommendations in London, comment below or send me a message!

fall favorites:

  • Tapas Pants (!!!) I’m obsessed with these and get soooo many compliments. Also very flattering, but size up. I’m usually a 4 or 6, I got these in an 8 and they fit perfect.

  • Checkered Sweater I think these sweaters are always in style, every single fall, and I love them!

  • Purple Gameday Dress wore this for the Clemson game and it was very comfortable and flattering, comes in multiple colors!

  • My favorite jeans The Agolde criss cross jeans! these are comfy and add a bit of fun to a normal outfit.

  • Sweater Tank I got this sweater in a nuuly rental, and I’ve already worn it so many times. It is perfect for fall clothes while the weather is still a bit warm.

  • Adidas Gazelles The Gazelles and the sambas are having a big moment right now, but theyre so flat that I think they only really work for people with long legs, which I do not have. After browsing a bit, I found these Gazelle Bold, which have a platform! I love these.

eats & deets:

what i’m currently cooking & looking forward to cooking! 🫐🧈🍔🎃🥧🍎
